2008 Movies

My husband and I love movies. Well, my husband more than I because I actually prefer books. But books are more of a solitary activity unlike movies which can be enjoyed together. Most of our dates when we haven't gotten married were movie dates. Now that we have a kid, we enjoy mostly "DVD dates" which consists of popping a DVD into the player, getting out the drinks and chips and watching in our room while the kiddo sleeps. I actually think this survey suits my husband more than it suits me. :)

Un-Flawless :(

I used to have bad skin back when I was in medical school. It was kinda weird because my skin was relatively clear when I was a teenager when my classmates were starting to sprout pimples. When I was already in my twenties and in medical school, that was when I started having endless breakouts. Maybe it was the stress. I've already tried a lot of acne medications, probably all those that were available in the market at around that time. It took a while, but finally I no longer have any breakouts. With all the numerous products claiming to promote clearer skin, you have to find the RIGHT SOLUTION FOR YOU. We didn't have the benefit of internet research back then, you do now.

No Batteries Needed

Remember the Typhoon Milenyo? I did. It affected the electricity lines so much that power outage lasted for about three days in our house. All my stored breastmilk thawed. I've heard that it was even longer than 3 days in other places around Metro Manila. Good thing we were ready and had our rechargeable lamps. However, 3 days of outage almost depleted our lamp's power. I realized that we should have a shake flashlight as a backup. This does not need electricity or battery and is very environmentally friendly since you only need to shake it for it to gain power, thus no used batteries to throw and add to our ever growing environmentally destructive waste.

Franchise Business Information Online

Tsinoys are best known for their business sense. Some of the biggest businesspeople in Manila and the rest of the Philippines are Tsinoys who made it big after the last world war by making a business out of supplying the basic needs. However, the faster way to establish your own business is to get a franchise, much like George Yang did with the local McDonald's. If you're looking to start a business, you have the capital for it but do not want to start from scratch, you can look for franchise information online to help you on your way to your new business.

Thoughts on Dating

Players: Ozzy’s Mom Me,Myself + 2 | Kidd Designs | Fun.Fierce.Fabulous | Life is What we Make it | Joys in Life | Photo Blog | Permanence in Change l A Matter of Perspective | The Working Mom | Tsinay

1. When was your first kiss and where?
Secret! :)

2. When was your first real relationship and how long did it last?
I was a late bloomer. I had my first boyfriend at 29 years old. It lasted for 5 years. Then, we got married. :)

3. What age were you allowed to date?
Dad and Mom wanted me to finish my medical studies first. So, I guess, 26?

4. What’s the craziest thing you did (for love) when you were a teenager?
I really can't remember :). I was a pretty level headed (boring!) teen!

5. How long was your longest relationship and what’s the secret?
I only had 1 relationship and that's with my husband. So far we're "us" for 9 years already. More than 5 years since we became steadies and a bit less than 4 years since we got married.

The secret? Understanding, giving each other space, constant communication and of course, love.

6. How long did you date before you decided to settle down?
5 years. But we actually talked about marriage around 2 years into the relationship. Other external factors prevented us from taking the plunge until we were on for 5 years.

7. How did you know he was the ONE?
It's not that easy to explain. It was never one big, grand gesture. It was all in the details, the small things he did that made me feel special and taken cared of. I knew he would always do those little things. :)

8. Now, at what age will you allow your kid(s) to date?
I really do not know. But I'll make sure I'll arm my kids with the necessary knowledge. I don't think "not allowing" them to date means they won't -- they'll just keep it a secret. So I guess it's better not to "not allow" them, but let them know about what to watch out for. Hopefully they'll listen.

9. When it comes to your kids dating, will you be a cool parent or a strict parent?
I think my husband will be the stricter one between the two of us, especially if we have a daughter. Like I said, I'll try to let them know all there is to know about dating and hope those lessons take root in their hearts.

10. What piece of advice can you give to your child when they start dating?
Don't be forced into anything you do not want to.

Ghost Month

For us of Chinese ancestry, yesterday coincided with the first day of the seventh month in the lunar month. This signals the start of the lunar month. Tradition states that weddings, house movings and other events not be done at this time if possible. More on the Chinese traditions during this month are tackled in this Wikipedia article.
